F. Scott Fitzgerald of the moment

Just wanted to share an amazing bit of prose from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s sophomore work — “The Beautiful and Damned.”

“The span of his seventy-five years had acted as a magic bellows– the first quarter-century had blown him full with life, and the last had sucked it all back.”

As a big Fitzgerald fan, I recommend his short stories. (Most people don’t even know “Benjamin Button” is based on a Fitzgerald story. And the story is much better than the movie). Be sure to buy Fitzgerald books with introductions by Matthew Bruccoli. He was the foremost Fitzgerald expert. Plus he taught at U. of South Carolina. (I actually took his Distant Ed class). He was brilliant.
