Hostess with the mostess

Yesterday I reflected on my love of staying in and being lazy with the husband. A part of being a homebody is also my love of having people come over.

I guess I’m a little like Monica in that respect (Friends reference, anyone?).

Tonight we had some friends over for dinner, something I’ve been wanting to do since we moved here. Our old place wasn’t the best for dinner parties because we didn’t actually have a table. When we moved, we got this beauty. (Check out the awesome, LIVE centerpiece my mom shipped me.)

Finally, we had a real grown up type dinner party.

Here’s what we had:

Apps: via our guests Brian & Jessica, Ham and Cheese in Puff Pastry . They said it was from Barefoot Contessa, but she used Soppressata, not ham. They were delish.  Also earlier in the week I made way too much of this homemade salsa so we had that, too.

Main Course: Pot roast with mashed potatoes & dinner rolls (frozen). The roast recipe was simple with not a lot of involved working. It’s more about constantly checking to make sure it’s cooking right. And the potatoes were yumm-o. Loved the addition of cream cheese.  You can tell it was a fun night because I didn’t take any pictures.

Dessert: Bite size apple pies. These little bites we simple and easy to make. They were pretty delicious, too. There’s a lot more pie to apple ratio though, so beware.

Finally using our Christmas platter!

I seriously love this. Who wants to come over for dinner?
