Attempting something different

The husband turns 28 on Friday. His best friend is coming to visit. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to try making something a little more complicated.

Step one: vanilla bean soaks in bourbon.

Here’s the recipe I’m using. It’s a Bourbon layer cake with chocolate ganche and buttercream.

Trying to stay organized in a chaotic kitchen.

So far, so good.

Adding in the bourbon.

I’ll admit I tried some of that batter. It’s a little like egg nog. Yum.

Divided and ready for baking.

The layer part is what scares me. I’ll let you know how it goes.
